2009 Game Wrap-up

The 2009 Battle of the Badges was one of  the more spirited games in its short history.  The Law Enforcement jumped out to a early lead with a goal by Ned Timmons of the U. S. Coast Guard.  The Fire Department tied the game just 20 seconds later with a goal by Bryan Zydowicz of the Wauwatosa FD.  The game continued to be a tight affair in the first period with the Fire Department going to the first break up by one goal.

Andrew Canak started the scoring in the second for the Fire Department and Steve Dufek of the New Berlin FD scored his second and third goals of the game to give the Fire Department a 7 to 3 lead heading into the locker room after two periods.  The second period saw the games first minor dust up when Jacob Nawrocki of the Fire Department and Vince Andryscyk of the Law Enforcement got into a minor scuffle next to the FD net.  The Law Enforcement only goal came at 11:17 by Mark Krowski Jr. of the Milwaukee PD.

Despite 3 late goals by the Law Enforcement the Fire Department held on to the control of the game and finished with a 12 to 6 win.  This is only the second victory for the FD in six tries.  Jacob Nawrocki and Ned Timmons got into a heated exchange at center ice leading to a game misconduct to Timmons.  Steve Dufek was named the number one star with a hat trick.

The 2009 game raised Just over $5500 for the Macc Fund.  Attendance was up and the game continues to grow each year with the help of the Milwaukee Admiral staff.   The 2010 game will be played on April 11.  Once again the proceeds of the game will go to the Macc Fund.  The players would like to thank all our fans who come out to support this great cause.
